Who's Next?

OH MY!!! Who would have thought the world would be so forceful against Iran?

Watching from our little perch, we saw the destruction of key Iranian facilities and institutions. In a lightning-like (rapid) turn, shocking events occurred that absolutely everyone saw coming, popular institutions, like Shahid Beheshti University and Imam Hossein University, were targeted as well 12. Turns out, as Redline has exposed in the past3, they are also supporting the Iranian military programs, including research and development for chemical and biological weapons4, and other favorite programs of the regime. Aren’t these places supposed to be conducting research that helps the Iranian people? We thought so, too, but it seems their true functions were exposed by the recent military campaigns.

As we have discussed in the past, the regime does love to use the people’s hard-earned money to pretend to build useful infrastructure that they claim will ultimately benefit the public good! But if those nuclear plants were supposed to generate power for you, why all the black-outs? If all these places are so innocent, why were they bombed? So, who works at these sites? Remember -- these institutions have recruited academic scientists to support their activities. Which leads us to question: are academics being indirectly complicit?

Clearly, not everyone is safe. We are also seeing news reports that lots of scientists5 were also killed in the strikes. Whether the strikes were intended to take them out or whether they are collateral damage by being in the wrong place is unknown, but our inside sources tell us it was intended. If you are an academic researcher supporting the regime’s WMD program, perhaps this should be a wake-up call. Ask yourself if the “innocent projects” the you are doing for the military are truly worth it.

To assist, please use our helpful risk vs. reward chart below:

Risks Rewards

Lose your ability to travel internationally

Wait, you can still go see Pyongyang; we hear it’s nice this time of year

No international recognition for your research as your work may not be published outside of Iran

What scientist needs international recognition anyway?

Face the distrust of the regime’s security services, be constantly monitored and have your every move watched

You always have a friend watching your back.

Become internationally sanctioned

You become famous! Or is it infamous?

Possibly be targeted by military actions for being complicit (or assumed complicit) in the regime’s WMD programs

Sorry, we can’t find a positive for this one.

And it gets even more interesting. The silence from Iran's so-called allies is deafening. Not a peep from Hamas, Hezbollah, or other groups that claim to be backed by Iran. It's as if they are abandoning ship. This lack of support will likely be a bitter pill for the Iranian regime to swallow, and it may just lead to some soul-searching within Iran’s allies’ inner circles.
